Brunswick Youth Baseball proudly offers spring (April thru June) and fall (September thru October) recreational baseball programs for players aged 4-16 years old. Programs vary depending on player interest and volunteer coach availability. If you love having recreational youth baseball in Brunswick, please consider volunteering to coach during registration! Families interested in travel baseball opportunities should email the league inbox at [email protected]. Short descriptions of the rec divisions are provided below:
Single A: Our 'A' division is designed as an instructional level for first-time-players ages 4-6. This division introduces children to the game of baseball and will be entirely coach-pitch (tees will be used to start and transition to soft toss as players develop). Every player will play the field and get a chance to hit every inning. Also recommended for 2nd year players who are still between 4-6 but are otherwise not ready for kid-pitching in the next level.
Double A: Our 'AA' division is designed for players ages 6-8. This level begins introducing players to the real game of baseball. Games will start out as coach-pitching but will also include some kid-pitching in the later innings. Amateur umpires (players from Majors/Senior Divisions) are used to call the games. Continuous batting applies, outs are recorded, and players are substituted on/off the field each inning to maximize playing time for all players. Game scores and team standings are not tracked. Infield distances are set at 46'/65'.
Triple A: Our 'AAA' division is designed for players ages 9-10. This level is competitive, uses certified umpires, and begins introducing limited base stealing. Games are entirely kid pitch, with required days of rest based on pitch count. Scores and team standings are tracked. The Spring/Summer program will include a playoff to conclude the season. Infield distances are set at 46'/65'.
Majors: Our Majors division is designed for players ages 11-12. This level is competitive, uses certified umpires, and adds the element of leading to baserunning/stealing concepts. Games are entirely kid pitch with required days of rest based on pitch count. Scores and team standings are tracked. The Spring/Summer program will include a playoff to conclude the season. Infield distances are set at 50'/70'.
Senior: Our Senior division is designed for players ages 13-15. This division is competitive, users certified umpires, and plays most Modified rules. Targeted for experienced players who are looking for more opportunities to play outside of a travel organization and/or school ball. (Travel players can participate, but the seasons do overlap). This level will practice and play 'Home' games at our 60'/90' field in the Brunswick Sports Complex on Route 2. Local, minimal travel in Albany/Schenectady/Saratoga/Rensselaer counties is expected. Teams may be invited to play in local Tournaments at the end of the season.
